Grid Systems – Visual Research
For a few weeks now I’ve been in close exchange with Martin Lorenz from TwoPoints.net, a Hamburg-based studio focusing on flexible visual identities. There are a lot of overlaps in our work: Martin wrote his PhD thesis at the University of Barcelona about flexible visual systems and basically this is the theory that is also used in generative design.
I also dealt with systems-based design in my bachelor studies, or rather during my time as a tutor in Lothar Schöneck‘s elementary design class at the Münster School of Design. Now that I’ve been using programming for my work for many years, I’ve come full circle.
These works are strongly inspired by the conversations with Martin and are a kind of visual research for my planned course Grid Systems, which I intend to publish in early/mid 2021.
