A future idea: web2print publishing

Since some time I am thinking about publishing books via a print on demand platform. My friend Kris de Decker from lowtechmagazine.com does it already.

Here’s a link

I love his approach: The printed books are compilations of his blogposts that he has published in the last 18 years. He calls this “the offline version of lowtechmagazine”. I think this approach is amazing.

Some months ago, through my friend Cem Eskenazi I’ve learned that at Rhose Island School of Design it is quite a standard to design books with a web2print framework called paged.js. It’s a javascript libarary that enables anyone to design a print pdf with just web technologies. I’ve made some tests and it works really well.

Here’s an example PDF

Cem showed me a a few physical copies of books designed with paged.js and printed at lulu.com and I was amazed. The quality is really good.

In fact, I won’t be able to this work all by myself. That’s why I am looking for people who could possibly help with this. Of course, this would be paid work. If you are interested, please let me know!
