I have some really good news: Processing is currently undergoing rapid development! Processing community lead Raphaël de Courville and primary maintainer Stef Tervelde, with help from the community of contributors, are steering the project toward the future – with great new features and steps to ensure long-term stability.

In short:

  • There’s a brand new Processing VSCode extension to work on more complex projects.
  • Processing now supports a new schema for opening sketches simply by clicking a link. You can see it in action by clicking the “Open With Processing” button to any of the examples on the website.
  • Processing now gets 12 releases a year (!), with fixes and new features.
  • A lot of this work is meant to make it easier for other to join and contribute.

When the video was recorded, it wasn’t official yet: Processing now has a new project lead: Moon Davé. I wish her all the best and am really excited to see what the future holds!

Also make sure you join the official Processing Discord server (Link)!
