Curating the DESIGN IN MOTION Festival 2022
Imagine if the majority of all outdoor displays in public spaces were broadcasting the best of design and moving image instead of commercial advertising. This is exactly the idea behind the DEMO Festival, which Studio Dumbar held for the first time in 2019. This year, in 2022, the festival will be happening again. This time, however, it will be many times bigger: instead of showing the brilliant works of international artists and designers only in selected train stations, this year it will be almost all outdoor monitors in the Netherlands. An incredible undertaking that requires the collaboration of many entities.
I am insanely excited to be part of the curatorial team along with Studio Dumbar, Connor Campbell, YONK and Koos Breen. Together we will review and select many thousands of videos. The festival will take place in October 2022 and will feature a great supporting program.
I see a huge opportunity here for our community. And I think I’ve launched the new Quests format at just the right time. Because I would also like to invite all of you to submit your work for the festival!
To all my patrons I would like to say thank you again from the bottom of my heart. The curatorial work for the DEMO Festival is voluntary and therefore not paid. Without you I could not take over this task!
I will keep you updated here!
Warm greetings,
Tim
